BSP Class ( Box Stock Project Class )

FKA Racing, Inc. introduces a new Box Stock class. The intent is to have an affordable class that anyone can ride and have fun. This class will participate in the regular points system with awards at the year end banquet. The concept is quite simple, let’s make use of the older karting chassis’ laying around and go racing. The most important thing about the BS class is, it must have purpose, direction, tech and a set of rules that everyone in the class must adhere too. We will monitor our rules and if necessary adjust accordingly.
The following rules apply to the new BS Class:
Must meet FKA or ( participating track ) age to race this class. Must be 15 years of age to race FKA Senior classes.
Weight for BS Class: ( weight & age to be determined by track or series ) All age classes can be set up for the box stock classes. ARC Racing carries restrictor plates ( purple & blue )
Spec engine: ( OHV ) 6.5hp 196cc Yellow engine with serial # beginning with DJ and now( box stock project stamped in block )located on front of block. This is the only engine allowed for the Box Stock Class.
The engine can be purchased for under $200
The only modifications allowed to the engine are: Disconnect or remove the governor. Disconnect the oil sensor and off/on switch. The following will be mandatory beginning Jan. 1, 2009. Remove fuel tank ( to chassis with a fuel pump ). Remove air filter box and replace with air filter adaptor and standard air filter. Remove stock muffler and replace with box stock spec header pipe and muffler.
Gasoline Only: 87 - 93 octane rating. ( to be checked with -digatron fuel meter )
Spec Tires: Maxxis EL tires Only ( $159 set ). You will only need one set!
Spec Clutch: Shoe type clutch Only, Max Torque, etc. ( clutches range in price $35 - $85. Any tooth clutch Driver ( track or series may adjust tooth on clutch driver ) Minimum 53 rear gear. 35 chain only.
Claimer Rule: You must finish the race in the top 5 to purchase the winners engine for $200 ( minus the clutch/chain guard/throttle kit, header pipe/muffler, air filter adaptor/air filter, top plate & fuel pump ). The engines in this class will be teched by FKA tech officials ( or insert your track name here ) the same as any other class ( FKA/AKRA tech rules apply ). Anyone refusing to tear down or sell their engine ( by the claimer rule ) will be disqualified and not allowed to race ( in the BSP Class ) for the remainder of the season! ( sorry but the penalty has to be stiff for this class to work ).
